Live: PM Modi To Launch Much-Awaited Hyderabad Metro Today

 

NEW DELHI:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the much-awaited Hyderabad Metro at 2.15 pm at the Miypur station. 

The commercial operations for the 30-km-long first phase of the metro rail project between Miyapur and Nagole, having 24 stations, will start on Wednesday. After the launch, PM Modi will travel by the metro from Miyapur to Kukatpally along with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, and they will return to Miyapur, PTI reported. 

Initially, the trains would run from 6 am to 10 pm and the timings would be rescheduled to 5.30 am to 11 pm, depending on the traffic and demand, Telangana's Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao was quoted as saying by PTI.

A mobile app named 'T Savari' will be launched for the passengers. The authorities concerned also plan to build sky-walks connecting the stations directly to commercial complexes, stadiums and offices, according to PTI.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Project started in July 2012 and it was scheduled to be completed by June this year, however, issues like land acquisition led to delays.

The Hyderabad Metro project has been divided into three corridors. The trains will run from Miyapur in north Hyderabad to Ameerpet - a connecting station - on corridor one, and from there to Nagole in the eastern side of the city, which is part of Corridor 2.
